Board of Zoning Appeals
Hears and decides appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Administrator in the administration or enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. The Board may authorize a variance from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance in specific cases where, owing to special conditions, a literal enforcement would result in unnecessary hardship and would not be contrary to the public interest.

Building Code Appeals Board
Hears appeals concerning the application of the Building Code or the refusal to grant a modification to the provisions of the Code covering the manner of construction or materials to be used in the erection, alteration, or repair of a building or structure.

Planning Commission
Responsible for making recommendations to Town Council on questions of community growth and development within the Town, including the Comprehensive Plan, zoning, subdivision review, and land use.

Wytheville Economic Development Authority
Historically the Town's Industrial Development Authority promoted economic growth and served as the agent for industrial development bonds. With the establishment of the Economic Development Authority, the Town's Authority now acts as a support organization to the Economic Authority as needed.

Joint Industrial Development Authority
Initiates, develops, and coordinates industrial and economic development efforts in order to achieve and sustain the optimum quality of life for all Wythe County citizens.

- Fourth Thursday of each month at 3:00 p.m.
Recreation Commission
Advises the Town Council on immediate and long-range plans and programs necessary to meet the active and passive recreational needs of citizens of all ages, and assists the Director of Parks & Recreation in the continuing development of recreational plans and programs.

- Nine members (seven age 18+ and two ages 15–17) and one Town Council liaison
- Term
- Three years for adult members; one year for youth members (ages 15–17)

Redevelopment and Housing Authority
Charged with the general operation of housing projects and with investigating housing conditions and the means and methods of improving those conditions.

Rehabilitation Zone Selection Committee
Prescreens applications for the required qualifications and makes recommendations to the Town Council regarding which properties should be included in the rehabilitation zone.

- Five members: one from the Planning Commission, one from the Wytheville Economic Development Authority, one from the Town Council, and two Town of Wytheville staff members

- Coincides with each member's Commission, Authority, or Council term

Smyth-Wythe Airport Commission
Oversees the construction, improvement, equipping, maintenance, and operation of the Mountain Empire Airport.

Tree Advisory Committee
Develops programs to replace existing trees as needed over time and helps administer the Town's tree ordinance.

Wall of Honor Committee
Accepts and reviews applications for nominees to the Civic Monument and makes recommendations to the Town Council.

- Six members and one Town Council liaison — one representing Town Council, one representing Wythe County, one from the Chamber of Commerce, one from the Sports Hall of Fame, one from civic/historic groups, and two representing Veterans Groups

Willow Brook / Jackson-Umberger Homestead Museum Advisory Board
Reviews various aspects of the operation of the Jackson Property and makes recommendations to the Town Council.

- You will receive a confirmation email from Town staff. Applicants are notified if selected by the Town Council to serve on a Town committee or board.
